Have you ever considered the incredible influence your mindset holds over your life? The power of a positive mindset shapes our reality in profound ways, guiding our actions and perceptions. When we have a thought, we have the power to accept or reject it. We have the choice right then and there to entertain that thought and let it take root, or to not give it a place and throw it out like last week's garbage! In Colossians 3:1-2, Paul reminds us that we are to set our sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God's right hand, and to think about the things of heaven, not of earth.

I love being able to take God's Word and clearly align and apply it to my everyday life, so consider this: I heard someone ask this question recently, "What have you done so far in 2024 that has an eternal significance?" Wow! When we consider the question and our answer, and put into perspective all tasks we complete, the things in which we are involved, all the places we spend our precious time, how well then, do we answer the question? The answer can help us shift and keep our focus on eternal things as Colossians reminds us.

Similarly, Philippians 4:8 urges us to "fix our thoughts on what is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise." There is a reason Paul reminds us to focus our perspective, and it's not only just because it's good and positive. Being aware and in control of your mind is the first, most powerful, strategic move you can make in spiritual warfare.

Victor or Victim: Which Mindset Will You Choose?

Imagine this: you wake up in the morning, and the first thoughts that enter your mind dictate the tone of your day. If those thoughts are rooted in a victim or defeated mindset, you've already set the stage for failure. If you are allowing and accepting negative thoughts to take root in your mind about yourself or others, you've already lost the battle. Don't let the enemy try to tell you that you're less than what you are.

God's Word says in Romans 8:37 that, "WE are MORE than CONQUERORS through Him who loves us!" And, HE DOES love us!! Adopting a victor mindset empowers you to approach challenges with resilience, viewing obstacles as opportunities for growth rather than roadblocks to success. James 1:2-3 says we are to "Count it all joy when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness". Girl! It's time to clean out and kick out those negative thoughts that have set up camp way too long in our minds! Ready?

Cultivating a Mindset of Excellence

To truly set the positive mindset environment and clean out those weeds and cobwebs of negativity, it is essential to cultivate a mentality focused on things that are true, honest, and of a good report. When you receive information or a thought, it usually envokes an emotion. Before you accept or reject, ask yourself, "What is truth here? What are the facts?" Turn the negative thought around and take it captive!

Here are some examples of how you can turn dibilitating lies into life-giving truth:

  • I am not defined by my past mistakes, failures, or sins, but by God's grace, forgiveness, and redemption.

  • I am not alone in my struggles, doubts, or fears, but I have a faithful God who is always with me and a supportive community who cares for me (that would be us, your Unveiled Living Sisterhood!).

  • I am not a victim of my circumstances, but a victor in Christ who can overcome any challenge with His strength and wisdom.

  • I am not lacking anything in Christ, but I have access to ALL His spiritual blessings and promises in this life and the next.

  • I am NOT inferior or unworthy, but I am valuable and precious in Christ who created me in His image and called me by name!

So, What's the Key? APPLICATION

Think about the incredible potential that lies within you, waiting to be unleashed through the power of God's Word. When you apply God's Word and keep your thought space focused on those things that are true, honest, pure, lovely, good report, it's a game changer, my friend! Because, you know what? God's Word - It CANNOT return void! Isaiah 55:11 - "So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it."

When you pray and declare God's Word as truth over your life and circumstances, it cannot be refuted! Find scriptures that declare your truth and write them on pieces of paper and stick them everywhere you'll see them! Pray and ask God to help you be more aware of any negative thoughts trying to take root in your mind. Ask Him to reveal to you unhealthy thoughts you've been hanging on to that need to GO! Ask Him to show you what is truth in every situation. He'll do it!

As you navigate the twists and turns of life, never underestimate the transformative power of your mindset. By setting your thoughts on God's Word and on things that uplift and inspire, you are laying the foundation to watch the activity of God move in your life.

I can't wait to see and hear how God moves in your life after reading this blog!
